What day is the race, and when does it start?
The race is on December 7, 2019. The official start time for the half marathon will start at 8:00 am. The 10k will start at 8:10am, and the 5k will start at 8:20 am. The Holiday Kids Fun Run will start at 7:30am.
Holiday Kids Fun Run
Join us for the Holiday Kids Fun Run at 7:30am before the race! The event is free with a suggested donation of $5 to our charity partner, or an unused toy that will be donated to Duke Children’s Hospital patients. Holiday Fun Run participants will start and finish through the real Blue Cross NC Race 13.1 Durham start/finish arch and run a .5 mile loop through the race site. Santa Claus himself will be making an appearance!
What's the Triangle Pass?
The Triangle Pass is a pass for all of our runners to run all three Race 13.1 Traingle races (Race 13.1 Raleigh-Spring, Race 13.1 Raleigh-Fall and Race 13.1 Durham) at a discounted rate and earn a medal for completing all three races. You can register for all three Race 13.1 races and earn your bonus medal by filling out the registration form here.
**Please note you will automatically be registered for the half marathon distance. If you choose to change your distance you will still qualify for the Triangle Bonus Medal. You can downgrade your distance to a 10k or 5k free of charge by filling out the form, here
Can I change my race distance?
Yes, you will have until 72 hours prior to the race to change your race distance. You can change your distance here.
How many participants are allowed in each event?
Half Marathon: 1,500
Will participants receive any merchandise?
Each racer will receive a race tech t-shirt. We will offer both men’s and women’s size shirts. All participants will also receive access to numerous Event Deals. A link to view and claim the Event Deals will be emailed out prior to the race and can be found on the race page. If you choose to register at packet pick-up on race day, we cannot guarantee a race t-shirt. They will be available to race day registrants on a first come, first serve basis while quantities last.
Will there be medals for participants?
All half marathon finishers will receive a 3" finisher medal! Stay tuned for the design!
We will do all we can to make sure each of our races is produced as planned, but runner safety is always our top priority. If we have to cancel a race because of weather or circumstances outside our control, refunds will not be issued.
Will there be professional photographers and photos for purchase?
Yes! Professional photographers will be on site for the race and will provide photos for purchase.
Is this race a USATF Certified Course?
Yes, the USATF Course Certification number is NC19023DF for the half marathon.
Is there a time limit?
Yes, all runners must be finished by 11:30am.
Is there prize money or awards?
Overall awards for the 5k and 10k will be given at 10:00am, and overall half marathon awards will be presented at 11:00am. Age group winners may claim their awards at the Race 13.1 Customer Service tent following the awards presentation. Winners must be present to receive their prize; awards will not be mailed out.
Age groups are as follows: 19 & under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-up.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are unable to stay for the award ceremony and believe you won an overall award please see the Customer Service Tent race day to ensure you receive the medal. If you are local to the area you can pick-up your medal at the Omega Sports in Durham (Packet Pick-up location). Overall Award or Age Group medals will NOT be mailed out after the event.
An elite athlete may receive one comp entry if he or she meets the standards listed below:
- Time standards: 1:14:00 for males and 1:28:00 for females.
- Time standards must be met in the the 12 months preceding the race date.
- Runners must have proof of their time. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
- Race 13.1 reserves the right to adjust time standards at any time.
- All elite athlete requests must be submitted at least 10 day prior to race day to email@example.com.
Will there be pacers?
Yes, we will have pacers for the following times:
1:45 | 2:00 | 2:15 | 2:30 | 2:45 | 3:00 | 3:30

When is packet pick-up?

Park anywhere in the New Hope Commons to attend Packet Pick Up at Omega Sports.
Can I pick-up someone else’s packet?
If you have a picture of their photo ID, yes you can. A picture on your phone works well!
How do I become a volunteer?
We need volunteers to make this event happen! All volunteers will be given a t-shirt! The volunteer portal will opne closer to race day!
Will there be live tracking for my athlete?
No, we will not offer live tracking.
Where can I find the results?
Results will be posted in real time on our website at Race131.com/results! We will also send you a text message during the race with a link to view the results after you finish.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds will not be issued for any reason. You may change your race distance, and you may transfer to another race up until 72 hours prior to Race Day. Please note: If you do not change your race distance either online or in person with a Race 13.1 staff member prior to the race start, you will be disqualified from the event.
What food and drinks will be on the course?
The course will have feature plenty of aid stations with water and sports drink will be served at the aid stations.
Will there be bathrooms on the course?
We will have two Port-A-Johns at each aid station on the course.
Can I wear headphones?
It is unsafe to wear headphones while running. Event organizers will not restrict headphone use and leave it up to the athlete on his/ her ability to follow direction while wearing headphone devices. If you do choose to wear headphones please keep the volume level down so you are able to hear and follow the direction of course volunteers. We have a unique course where you MUST listen to volunteers.
Are pets allowed on the race course?
Pets are not allowed on the race course for the safety of race participants, spectators and the animals.
However, service animals as recognized by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are permitted on course. Should you decide to run the race with a service animal, please email your information to email. Runners with ADA service animals will be placed in the last corral behind individual runners for safety purposes.
Are pets allowed in the post-race area?
Yes, pets are allowed in the post-race area. However, it is not recommended due to the large crowds, amplified sound and lively atmosphere.
Animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless the individual’s disability prevents using these devices or these devices interfere with the service animal's safe, effective performance of tasks. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.
Can someone else run in my place?
No, you are not allowed to transfer bib numbers.
Can I register on race day?
Yes, you will be able to register on race day and at packet pick-up, as well as online up until one hour prior to the race – though you must pick up your bib in time to race!
Are walkers allowed in the race?
Yes, however, you must meet the requirements of the completing the race in 3.5 hours or less (any distance).
Are baby joggers or strollers allowed during the race?
No. This is to ensure runner safety and comply with liability insurance policies.
