Please note that Michigan State Parks charge a daily fee to enter the park. Information from the Belle Island Park site states:

  • Consistent with all Michigan state parks, a Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry to Belle Isle ($11 for Michigan vehicles, $5 for Michigan motorcycles). If you didn’t check yes to the Recreation Passport when you renewed your license plate, or if you will be visiting with a nonresident vehicle, you can purchase a window sticker at the entrance booth or at the Administration Building (White House). Nonresidents pay $31 for an annual pass or $9 for a day pass. For details, visit

  • Park passports may be purchased at the entrance booth to the park or at any of the service stations here before or on race day. Credit-cards are NOT accepted, please plan to pay with cash or check.

  • The Detroit Department of Transportation offers bus serive via the #12 Conant Rount to Belle Isle. The serive provides access to get on and off the island for $1.50 bus fair with no additional park entry fees. (a Recrecation Passport is not needed). The bus route operates Monday - Friday between 5:50 am and 8:30 pm, Saturday from 7:30 am to 8:30 pm, and Sunday from 8:am to 6:30 pm. Serivce to Belle Isles will run roughly every 50 minutes. The bus stop is located in close proximity to major attractions such as the conservatory, the aquarium and the giant slide.
