2014 Athlete Guide!

Race 13.1 Fayetteville with make its debut in 2014. Fayetteville is an amazing city, from the historical buildings and cobblestone sidewalks of Hay Street to the array of art galleries and unique eateries, downtown is the epicenter of Fayetteville’s history and culture. Home to Fort Bragg, with over 55,000 military personnel, there are more service members based in Fayetteville than any other Army installation in the country. It’s also proud to be the home of the revered 82nd Airborne Division and the famed Golden Knights parachute team.  The race will start and finish at Cross Creek Mall, allowing runners to enjoy ample parking and many amenities both before and after the race.  The course is flat and fast with only 58 feet of elevation gain! The vast majority of the race takes place on the a closed portion of the All-American Expressway.

Where is the race?
The race is in Fayetteville, NC and will start and finish at Cross Creek Mall http://www.crosscreekmall.com/

What tme does the race start and where is the start?
The race is on Sunday September 7th, 2014. The official start time for the Half Marathon will be 7:00am. The 5k and 10k will start at 7:20am.

How many participants are allowed in each event? 
Half Marathon: 1,500
10k: 750
5k: 750

Will Participants receive any merchandise?
YES! Each racer will receive race Tech T Shirt. We will offer both Men’s and Women’s size shirts!

If you choose to register at packet pickup on Race Day we cannot guarantee a race t-shirt, they will be available to race day registrants on a first come first serve basis while quantities last.

Will there be a medal for the Half Marathon?
Yes! Half Marathon finishers will receive a MEDAL! We will post a picture closer to the race date!

Will there be professional photographers and photos for purchase? 
Yes! Professional photographers will be on site for the race and will provide photos for purchase.

Is this race a USATF Certified Course?
YES! USATF Certification numbers will be posted prior to the race!

Is there a time limit?
Yes, 3.5 hours for each distance.

Is there prize money or awards?

The overall awards will be presented at 10:30am prior to the cash give-a-away drawing.  Overall winners, both male and female, will receive awards from the official Race 13.1 shoe sponsor, Altra.

Age group winners, both male and female, will receive awards.  All 5k, 10k, and 13.1 age group winners will receive their awards via email after the race.  Age Groups are as follows: 19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-up.  Age group awards will be announce closer to the race date.

How do I become a Volunteer?
We need Volunteers to make this event happen! All Volunteers will be given a t-shirt! Please click the volunteer tab above for more information.

When is packet pick-up?

  • Friday, Sept. 5th – 5:00pm – 9:00pm at the BCBS Blue Store (211 Westwood Shopping Center)
  • Saturday, Sept. 6th – Noon – 5:00pm at the BCBS Blue Store (211 Westwood Shopping Center)
  • Sunday, Sept. 7th – 5:30am – 6:30am at the Start/Finish area in between the Office Depot and Belk at Cross Creek Mall

Can I pick-up someone else’s packet?
If you have a picture of their photo ID, yes you can. A picture on your phone works well!

What timing system will be used?
The Ultra timing system from RFID Timing Systems will be provided by FS Series.

Will there be Live Tracking for my athlete?
No, we will not offer live timing.

Where can I find the results?
Results will be posted on our website within 24 hours of race completion.

Can I get a refund?
Refunds will not be issued for any reason. Event entries are not transferable from person to person OR year to year.

What food and drinks will be on the course?
The course will have a minimum of 4 aid stations that will be passed 1-2 times each, depending on distance, about every 1.5 to 2 miles. Water and Gatorade will be served at the aid stations.

Will there be bathrooms on the course?
We will have TWO Rent-A-Jon at each aid station on the course.

Can I wear headphones?
It is unsafe to wear headphones while running. Event organizers will not restrict headphone use and leave it up to the athlete on his/ her ability to follow direction while wearing headphone devices. If you do choose to wear headphones please keep the volume level down so you are able to hear and follow the direction of course volunteers. We have a unique course where you MUST listen to volunteers, if you cannot hear a volunteer you have no excuses if you get led off course.

Can someone else run in my place?
No, you are not allowed to transfer bib numbers.

Can I register on race day?
Yes, you will be able to register on race day AND at packet pickup, as well as online up until 1 hour prior to the race – though you must pick-up your bib in time to race!

Are walkers allowed in the race?
YES! However, you must meet the requirements of the completing the race in 3.5 hours or less (any distance).

Are baby joggers, strollers or pets allowed during the race?
No. This is to ensure runner safety and comply with liability insurance policies.

Founded by Golden Corral Corporation as an extension of their long history of honoring the military and veterans’ organizations, Camp Corral, a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt, non-profit corporation, is a free, one-of-a-kind summer camp for children of wounded, disabled or fallen military service members.  Since its founding in 2011, Camp Corral has served over 4,000 children from coast to coast, and is committed to increasing the number of children served by expanding our reach in communities around the country.  Although any child from a military family is eligible, registration priority is given to children of wounded, disabled or fallen military service members. Camp Corral, headquartered in Raleigh, NC works closely with YMCA and 4-H camps, both highly respected for their total youth development programs.
